Former two term governor of Lagos, Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently in Abuja where he is holding a meeting with the Vice president, Yemi Osinbajo.
The two men, who are members of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, both have an ambition to take over the leadership of the country when President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure runs out in 2023.
Although none of them has declared their intention openly, they have support groups and associates who have hinted such plans.
Asiwaju Tinubu, a national leader of the APC, who does not have any position on the Board of Trustee, has been egged on to run as the next President by groups such as South West Agenda for Asiwaju (SWAGA) and Tinubu Support Group (TSG).
Despite his ill health, the 69 year-old may be gearing up to declare his ambition to run before the end of the year.
Sources informed The Glintstone that the former Lagos Governor, who Professor Osinbajo served as Commissioner during his tenure, will be upping the campaign for 2023.
Professor Osinbajo, the vice President since 2015, was recommended to that role by Asiwaju Tinubu, but the relationship is said to have gone sour in recent times.
While Asiwaju Tinubu was undergoing treatment and recuperating from a knee surgery in London, many dignitaries visited, however Professor Osinbajo was not one of them.
It has been widely reported that Professor Osinbajo, who did arrive in London before Asiwaju Tinubu departed back to Nigeria, was in fact snubbed by the APC chieftain.
